Is A % of Something Better Than 100% of Nothing?

Two of the saddest stories I have heard were from two people who had ideas they thought could make a difference in the world.  Unfortunately, one did not want to tell anyone who may be able to help for fear the idea would be stole.  The other turned down an opportunity because the investor wanted at least 50% of the company for taking all the financial risk by funding the idea.  As far as I know, neither have brought their idea to the world.

As a result, the world does not benefit from what each person had to offer.  When we ask the universe to help us achieve our goals, the answer may not be what we thought.  The unique perspective of the unseen realm, is that a larger picture is known.

Instead of not moving forward, what if each person found a win win solution for all parties, how much would the world have benefited. Sadly, we may never know.  What if the parties could agree on a future buyout of enough of the investors shares to make the idea person the controlling party.  What if, before discussing the money-making idea, a confidentiality agreement was signed, could this have made a difference.

How many of us will take great ideas to the grave, which could have changed not only our life, but also the lives of many others? How many of us have allowed fear or greed to stop us from achieving our goals?  So I ask again,  “Is a % of something better than 100% of nothing?”

Goals & An Action Plan

office-76Achieving your goals with an action plan.

To achieve anything in life, you must take action.  The previous statement seems obvious, but many people fail to achieve their goals because they failed to take action.  Often times, they are waiting on things to be perfect or they put their goals on hold to help others achieve theirs.  There is nothing wrong in helping others achieve their goals, if it does not prevent you from achieving yours.

Putting your goals to paper, is the first step to achieving them.  It seems that writing down your goals and reviewing them daily, makes it more likely you will pursue them.  Your written goals gives you a benchmark to aid in your decision making process.  Whenever you have a decision to make, if your goals are written, it is likely that you will consider how your actions will affect you achieving a specific goal.

But if you only write down your goals, and never develop any steps to achieve them, chances are you won’t.  That is why an action plan is important.

Simply put, an action plan is a strategic series of steps you need to take to move you toward your goals instead of away from them.  For each goal, write one or two things you can do now.   It may be making a call, doing research, starting a new program, taking a class, adding a new positive habit or eliminating negative influences, just to name a few.  Then once they are completed, you write new steps until you achieve your goal.

Every journey begins with a first step and each small action you take toward your goals will lead you closer to achieving them.

Don’t Get Stuck In Yesterday

Don’t get stuck in yesterday.  Your past achievements are just that, the past. It is only natural, that when we find something that works, we want to keep doing it forever.  The only problem is, some solutions were for a specific period of time and not meant to be used forever.

Life is full of change and in order to keep pace, we must sometimes change as well. Successful companies know this to be true, which explains why,  every few years, they refresh themselves.  The may take a new form of their name, upgrade their builds, revamp their products or change the way they do business.  Leaders of successful companies know that to stay relevant, change is a part of the equation.

For example, most, if not all, brick and mortar stores also have an online presence.  This is so because today, unlike 15 years ago, more and more people shop online for some of their needs.  Almost all sellers except a credit or debit card as payment instead of only cash or checks.  Sellers who do not make changes to reflect the new demands, loss customers and risk going out of business.

Like wise, what worked for you, on your journey to achieving your goals in the past may not now.  If you want the next promotion, you may need to increase your knowledge, make new affiliations, or change your location.  As an entrepreneur, if you want to increase your revenue, you may need to add a new product line, repackage an existing product, or change your marketing, just to name a few.  The changes you make should be in line with the ultimate goals you wish to achieve.

If you keep doing the same things, you will get the same results.  Not all change is bad, getting stuck in the comfort of yesterday at the detriment of your future, that is bad.

Clarifying goals

To Achieve Your Goals, What Are You Willing To Change or Give Up?

never too lateUnfortunately, change requires you to give up one thing for something else.   To achieve something new, you must be willing to give up something you currently possess.   You may have to give time, money, or something else.  Not wanting to change is the reason I believe most people do not go after or achieve their dreams.  They want something new but are not willing to change.   They want new results using old methods.

They may want to start a business but are not willing to spend the time or money needed to make it a success.  They may want a soulmate but will not work on themselves to attract the person.  Thy may want to lose weight but do not want to exercise or give up their current eating habits.  They have not accepted the concept; that change requires them to change.  That to get something new, they must be willing to give up something old.

The something old may be, the way they think, their attitude, their current habits, money they spend elsewhere, leisure time, just to name a few.

The simple truth is, no matter what it is, to achieve your goals, you must change.  If you keep doing what you are currently doing, you will get the same results.  Change requires changing something.

The change does not have to be drastic or unpleasant. What you change or give up, however, must be appropriate for the goal you want to achieve.  As we begin a new year, what are you willing to give up this year to achieve your goals?

Food For Thought

Cw Fft2 Rd corrected

Even when it seems things are not changing,  they are.  Keep moving forward because all journeys begin with a step, and you will not arrive at your destination if you stop.

I have found it is better to wake each day and say wow, look at what is happening in my life, instead of saying how did this happen in my life.  Each day seems to build on the other, and before I know it, I have achieved a goal and moving on to the next goal.

The difference between the two statements is in the first suggests;  I am proactive while the second statement suggests I only react to life.

Finally realizing I was the co-creator of my life was liberating.  I was not a victim, but I had the power to create the life I wanted.  That knowledge has made life a much more fun and interesting adventure.

So, do you agree being proactive in life is better than being reactive?

Why Is My Life Not Improving?

The reason you keep getting results you don’t like in life is because you are responding to the world with the same programing.  You must reprogram yourself to think and act as the person you want to become to change your life.

For example, if you wanted to be promoted on your job, you would begin dressing for the part as much as appropriately possible.  You would act the part as appropriately possible.  You would arrive early to work and stay a little later.  You would know your job inside out and learn as much as possible about the job you seek.  You would return on time from breaks and be a problem solver.  You would also be willing to change companies if needed.

Your thoughts determine your actions.  Change your thoughts and you will change your life because your  behavior  will change.

Meditating, reading motivational books, watching inspirational and motivational shows are some ways to help you reprogram your mind.  Study and learn about the things that are important to you.  Become an expert.   Reprogram yourself to become the person you want to be.

Stay away from anything negative.  Negativity will hold you back and keep you from your dreams.

Decide who you want to be in life and then start reprogramming your mind to become it.
